Educational Workshops & Masterclasses for Voice Programs

Bridging voice pedagogy, vocology, and myofunctional science for singers

Advancing Voice Education

We are reaching out to explore the possibility of offering a guest lecture, workshop, or masterclass for your voice students and faculty. Our work sits at the intersection of voice pedagogy, vocology, and myofunctional science, and is designed specifically for singers—not clinicians—so that teachers and performers can better recognize when oral structure and function may be contributing to vocal challenges.

In recent years, we've seen growing interest from conservatories internationally, particularly in Nordic countries, where many singers report first learning about tongue-tie and oral restrictions during their conservatory training. This has encouraged us to expand our educational outreach to university voice programs both nationally and abroad.

Beyond Voice: Working with Instrumentalists

Our expertise extends beyond vocal pedagogy to support woodwind and brass instrumentalists whose performance may be impacted by tongue-ties or oral restrictions.

Understanding Tonguing in Wind Instruments

Tonguing is an essential articulation technique primarily used in woodwind and brass instruments to start, separate, or style notes by manipulating airflow with the tongue against a reed or mouthpiece. When instrumentalists have a tongue-tie or oral restriction, it can significantly impact their ability to execute clean articulations, maintain consistent tone production, and perform advanced techniques.

Common Instruments Affected:

Flute
Clarinet
Saxophone
Oboe
Bassoon
Trumpet
Trombone
Tuba
Recorder

Tonguing Techniques:

Single Tonguing Double Tonguing Triple Tonguing Flutter Tonguing

We can tailor sessions for wind instrument faculty and students, addressing how oral restrictions impact articulation, breath control, and overall performance quality.
